President Donald Trump headed to North Carolina on Friday where he planned to honor members of the special forces who stormed into Venezuela last month and whisked away Nicolás Maduro, the leader of the South American country, to face drug smuggling charges in the United States.
A second U.S. aircraft carrier will be leaving the Caribbean and heading to the Middle East in the coming days after President Donald Trump warned it would "be very traumatic for Iran" if they don’t make a nuclear deal.
Trump told reporters on Friday that he decided to send a second aircraft carrier to the region "in case we don't make a deal, we'll need it."
The USS Gerald R. Ford, the world's largest aircraft carrier, and its three destroyers will join the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group, according to U.S. officials.
Trump on Tuesday expressed optimism that a nuclear deal can be made with Iran but said he was prepared for the alternative.
"Either we will make a deal or we will have to do something very tough like last time," Trump told Axios, referring to U.S. strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities last summer.
