Replacing a mechanical seal in a Bell & Gossett PL Series pump.
A mechanical face seal prevents fluid leakage by maintaining contact between two polished surfaces (one stationary and one which rotates) by mechanical loading (with a spring) and by differential hydraulic pressure.
This is not hard to do. Parts need to be clean and you need to be gentle with the seals as they are fairly delicate and easily broken. This is a PL-36 pump in the video.
