Reacting to the Haladiapadar overbridge accident near Berhampur, Ganjam district, Odisha, India, Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena said the tragic mishaps are not new and date back to the very day the bridge was constructed, pointing to a design flaw in the structure as a key issue. The bridge has been under scrutiny following a deadly crash on January 31, 2026, where a speeding truck collided with motorcycles, killing five people and injuring others.
