Описание: In this Original Jurisdiction matter, the Claimaint, Mr Derek Anand Ramsamooj is a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago, a political analyst and political consultant active at the regional level with about 30 years’ experience as such throughout the Caribbean Community. He is the holder of a Certificate of Recognition of CARICOM Skills Qualification. The Respondent is the State of Suriname. The Applicant seeks special leave on the basis that his rights under the RTC were breached due to his unlawful detention by police officers in Suriname from October 2020 to September 2022, because he was denied legal counsel and medical attention, and also because he was coerced into signing documents in Dutch (a language unknown to him) which were later used in court as his confession.
