With Macbook A2141 / A1990 machines, the most common failure point is the critical 2V5 NAND voltage regulator which converts the high 20V of the main bus down to the 2.5V required for the SSD/NAND storage. 99.999% of the time when the regulator component is damaged with corrosion it will result in your Macbook's SSD/storage to be destroyed irreversibly, no recovery possible.
Every now and then, in truly rare circumstances, luck can be on the side of the customer and the data/storage survives the attempt on its digital life.
This is why, even when the symptoms say "It's dead, Jim", we still check just to be absolutely sure.
