Jageshwar dham is one of the 12 jyoterlingam. The Main temple of Shiva is covered by 124 small ancient temples of different gods. According to Skandha Purana and Linga Purana the workship of lord Shiva was started from Jageshwar and 8th Shiva Jyotirlinga was originated here.It is beleived that Adi Sankaracharya visited Jageshwar Dham and renovated, re established many temples before leaving for Kedarnath Dham.
