The long-pending PRC and Interim Relief (IR) issues continue to trouble Andhra Pradesh government employees and teachers. After growing pressure from employee unions, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu held discussions with employee and teacher representatives over their pending demands.

But the key question remains: Where is the clarity on the PRC and IR? Employee organisations have been demanding the constitution of the 12th Pay Revision Commission, Interim Relief and settlement of pending DA instalments. The government has indicated steps on some financial and service-related issues, but the response on IR remains a major point of discussion.

The meeting also brings attention to two DA instalments, surrender leave payments and additional surrender leave for police personnel. While some employee representatives may view these as positive steps, the absence of a clear IR announcement could leave many employees dissatisfied.

Now the bigger question is: Will employee unions accept these assurances? Will they intensify their agitation if PRC and IR remain unresolved? And can Chandrababu prevent the employee issue from becoming a larger political headache?
