PPS-43:
The PPS-43 was an improved successor to the PPS-42, designed to meet the Soviet Red Army's urgent demand for a cheap, reliable, and mass-producible submachine gun during WWII. Its stamped steel construction, lightweight profile, and excellent performance in freezing conditions made it a standout weapon on the Eastern Front, especially in brutal urban battles such as Leningrad.
STG-44:
The Sturmgewehr 44 is recognized as the first true standard-issue assault rifle in military history, introducing a new paradigm of effective firepower at intermediate ranges. Chambered in 7.92×33 Kurz, it improved burst-fire controllability and enhanced German infantry mobility on the Eastern Front. Although it entered service late in the war, its technological legacy profoundly influenced post-war designs, including the iconic AK-47.
