Whinham's Reel and Because He Was A Bonny Lad - two great Northumbrian polkas. The first is written by fiddler, composer and dancing master Robert Whinham (1814-1893) of Morpeth, Northumberland. The second, a popular tune from the 1700s which has also made it's way up north to Scotland as a Strathspey.
