France and UAE Partner to Develop Massive AI Data Center

Описание: France and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have entered into a landmark agreement to construct a 1-gigawatt data center in France dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI), with investments ranging from USD 30 billion to USD 50 billion. The agreement was formalized during a meeting between French President Emmanuel Macron and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al-Nahyan on February 6 in Paris. The partnership aims to bolster AI capabilities through joint investments in advanced technologies, including acquiring high-performance computing chips and developing state-of-the-art data centers1. Both countries are also committed to nurturing AI talent and establishing virtual data embassies to ensure sovereign AI and cloud infrastructure within their territories1. The data center will be the core of a new AI "campus" and will have up to a gigawatt of capacity. The campus will be the largest in Europe dedicated to AI. This announcement precedes a global AI summit in Paris from February 10-11, where approximately 100 countries will discuss AI's potential and its role in global economic competition19. France aims to establish itself as a prominent player in the AI landscape, rivaling industry leaders like the United States and China19. The French government has identified 35 sites across the country to host AI data centers.
