An existing MIDI track can be converted into an audio track by using the Render in Place feature. Just select the track from the project window, and in the Edit menu, select “Render In Place”.
If you would like to immediately record audio while simultaneously recording the MIDI track, you need a few extra steps. Create 3 tracks:
The MIDI (or Instrument) track that you will record live
A Group Channel track. This serves as the middle man between the MIDI and audio tracks
An audio track
Then set the routing as follows:
The output of the MIDI track goes to the group track
The output of the audio track goes to the stereo output. This is so you can hear the recording while performing
The input of the audio track comes from the group track
Now arm both the MIDI track and audio tracks to record, and do the recording. You will see data simultaneously being added to both tracks.
The video here also demonstrates how you can send existing recorded MIDI track and newly recorded MIDI to the same audio track. It essentially follows the same principle. Simply have all MIDI tracks, existing or new, routed to that group track.
