They chose de-escalation.

They disengaged and left the scene without escalating force.


The speaker exercised their First Amendment rights and even attempted to bait the officers, taunting them to “hit me,” fully aware that any physical response would trigger a Fourth Amendment violation.

The officers did not take the bait.

That restraint is the constitutional standard.

This is what lawful policing looks like and this is how Jonathan Ross should have reacted when faced with words he didn’t like.

He ran to his vehicle after hearing her words and returned with anger that resulted in an unjustifiable death.
