Nelson Mandela University Choir and Korean Collaboration

Описание: A group of Korean singers joined by the acclaimed Nelson Mandela University choir (pictured) set the stage for a special concert to celebrate the first-ever Korea-Africa Summit on Mother’s Day, May 12 , at the Nelson Mandela University South Campus Auditorium.

The concert presented a cultural collaboration between singers from South Korea, Ensemble Enus, and the acclaimed Nelson Mandela University Choir, bringing enchanting musical harmonies interwoven from two countries together on the stage of the Nelson Mandela University South Campus Auditorium.

For this event Ensemble Enus and the Korean singers, who performed on international stages, were invited to set the stage with the internationally-acclaimed Nelson Mandela University Choir, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.

In this special concert, the Korean singers and the South African choir performed traditional Korean folk songs, contemporary art songs of Korea, and international choir classics by great South African composers such as Péter Louis van Dijk and John Knox Bokwe, as well as famous opera arias and other musical numbers.

Prior to the concert also accompanied reception event, where the guests were invited to experience various aspects of Korean culture, including traditional Korean clothes (or ‘hanbok’), Korean food, and K-pop performances.

The concert was organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, and the Korean Cultural Centre in South Africa (KCCSA), in partnership with Robert Gillmer ,and the Nelson Mandela University Choir from the Arts Culture and Heritage Unit of the Nelson Mandela University.
