Updated version of the build
Main change: Glory generation was the real limiting factor.
In the older setup, I was trying to trigger Skyfall from both Cast on Critical and Cast on Elemental Ailment.
My level 29 Skyfall requires 466 Glory to cast, and I can generate that with around 2 Grim Pillars.
At first, that sounded fine, but I realised it might not actually be enough to reliably proc two Skyfalls from both CoC and CoEA, especially on bosses. The build was working, but it probably should have been triggering way more Skyfalls.
So I changed the setup.
Now I use:
CoC = Skyfall
CoEA = Comet
This feels way better.
Two Skyfalls means I fall short on Glory generation.
Two Comets means I cannot sustain the mana / life cost properly as Blood Mage. Maybe other ascendancies can do it, but for Blood Mage it felt rough.
So splitting it like this works much better for me.
I also use Runic Extraction Support in the CoEA Comet setup, which helps generate more Glory. Now I can cast only 1 to 2 Grim Pillars and reliably proc both Skyfall and Comet. Mapping feels a lot smoother and less clunky now.
Another big upgrade is 50% increased Glory generation on my gloves.
For Leopold’s Applause, I crafted mine like this:
Buy an uncorrupted Leopold’s Applause
Runeforge it
Add socket and quality
Slam Vaal and pray for another socket or Cold Penetration lol
I got mine in one go, so I was pretty lucky.
I also started using Energy Retention in Spellslinger, CoC and CoEA, together with the Energise node.
With this setup, we have a 60% chance to refund the meta energy we spend. This is honestly one of the core mechanics that lets the build cover the map with Skyfall and Comet instead of feeling like it keeps running out of trigger fuel.
Spellslinger change
I also swapped Spark out and started using Entangle in Spellslinger to burst the crystals.
The reason is Verisium Infusion.
I started testing infused Skyfall, and Spark was consuming all the infusions, which made it annoying to maintain. Entangle feels better here because it still helps deal with the crystals without stealing all the infusions.
This part is not fully confirmed yet, but infused Skyfall looks interesting.
When I tested it, infused Skyfall seemed to drop 6 aliens/squids in a larger radius instead of 3. If each individual drop deals damage, this could be a big improvement.
But there is also a chance it is just giving us 3 extra squids visually and not actually multiplying the damage properly. In that case, it might be pretty useless for Skyfall.
At least infused Comet definitely feels useful because it can basically double the damage.
So the updated idea is:
Grim Pillars to generate Glory and trigger
CoC Skyfall as the main Runic Ward spender
CoEA Comet to avoid double Skyfall Glory problems
Runic Extraction to help Glory generation
Energy Retention + Energise to keep meta skills rolling
Entangle instead of Spark so Verisium Infusion is not wasted
