NPR's Tiny Desk Concert Submission 2026: "Fracture, Fusion" by Maddy Walsh & The Blind Spots

Описание: Our default is a FUN and all-inclusive love-fest... but this year, when considering which song to record for NPR's Tiny Desk Concert Contest, we took a look around: things don't feel as fun, and we decided it's okay to be real about that. There are times to party (and resist with joy), and there are also times to admit that things are hard. This song was written for a family member when she was undergoing cancer treatments in the hopes that we could lift her spirits. It's still true that Love and Music remain the constants in our lives and the truest forms of medicine to treat what feel like insurmountable obstacles and hardships.

Also, we recorded a version of this song with members of the Ithaca High School Choir (who were wonderful!) before realizing that featuring anyone who isn't *in the band, especially minors, would be grounds for disqualification from the contest, so we look forward to sharing the version that includes the students here on our YouTube channel as well as on social media--it just can't be our official submission to the contest, unfortunately.

We hope this song makes you feel seen and heard and offers some soothing and uplift.
