You want to lighten up your backpack and save on storage space. Weather your planning a simple day trip to angles landing in Zion national park, a simple hiking trail near you, or planning the continental divide and pacific crest trails. These three hacks will make your gear more accessible, pack tighter, and travel lighter in the trail.
I’ve backpacked many places in the time on the trail. Using Smart 1-liter style water bottles will fit perfectly on the sides of your pack and make them easily accessible as compared to a camel back. Also, taking all of your dehydrated meals, and putting them in Ziplock bags saves space. Just keep one of the original cooking bags for the meals because the Ziplock bags don’t have the insulation to cook the meals from the boiling water you put in there. Lastly some spare tape fits perfectly around your trekking pools, just encase something tears in your gear.
