Everything I know about crafting in Wolcen. The one thing I forgot to mention - all the gems with specific damage types (phys, cold, sacred, etc) essentially have the "same" affixes. It's really only Amethyst, Alexandrite, and Genesis Stones that differ significantly in what they add. All the rest add the same stuff, just with their corresponding flavor. Alexandrite is what you're going to use most often on weapons, Amethyst is best for trying to add transfer time to armor. Genesis Stones add the special Sarisel affixes you can get from Untainted missions.
EDIT: one other thing I forgot - as far as why 150/160 ilvl+ bases, it's because at those tiers items can't roll low tier affixes anymore. A 100+ weapon can roll all tiers, but a 150+ weapon can no longer roll low tiers - only high ones. 150 for weapons, 160 for armor (some resist rolls require 160 to no longer roll t4). You can see this easily on the database site under affixes.
