What wrist supports should I use for gymnastics or for lifting weights? Tiger Paw Wrist Supports are the best wrist brace for working out and best wrist supports for gymnastics. I use Tiger Paws as gymnastics wrist guards for floor and as gymnastics wrist guards for bars. I think some girls use these for cheerleading wrist supports.

Ok so I've talked to some gymnasts and we've all experienced feeling wrist pain. maybe you are sore from a growth plate injury, a stress fracture, or just from constant high impact drills.
I've had to use these Tiger Paws first hand and I can say it did take pressure of my wrist and helped me with recovery. I stopped complaining about wrist pain on Day 1 when I wore these in practice.
I would complain about my wrist hurting during repeated back handsprings. I'd probably last about an hour then my wrists would hurt. Then the first time I used the tiger paws I lasted a whole practice with no pain at all. It was a HUGE difference.
So what does it include... All Tiger Paw wrist supports include replaceable foam pad supports. These foam inserts are replaceable so you can continue to get solid stable support from your Tiger Paws.
And if you want a little softer flex you can order a thinner foam insert.
The foam inserts generally need to be replaced after 30-45 hours of use. They also come with a set of rigid plastic stays that let you adjust the support. The plastic inserts will add even more stability and support when you use your Tiger Paws. They say the inserts shouldn't be used alone and they recommend using them with the foam supports to help you get extra support. But I really have only been using mine with the plastic inserts. They definitely need to be broken in and it took me about 2-3 weeks.
I'd say this wrist support is pretty good for gymnastics. the quality of the Tiger Paws Is top notch cause its made with real leather. They're very strong, and still comfortable to wear while tumbling. I didn't feel any pain once I started using these and my tumbling is much better now that I have them. They're durable, you can adjust the amount of flex, and they're much more convenient than taping.
sizing can differ, but their guide says this...
XS Up to 69 pounds
S 69 to 115 pounds
M 115 to 150 pounds
L 150 to 210 pounds
One BIG suggestion I have for those thinking of ordering... if you're deciding between the small and medium size supports maybe ask a teammate to try theirs so you can order the right ones. If you happen to fall between two sizes, they recommend that you choosing the larger size.
They come in alot of colors but If you are a competitive gymnast then only the Sand color is acceptable for USA Gymnastics Competitions
All other colors will get point deductions!
Now for the bad...
Some coaches don't like you wearing these, because they believe they contribute to the problem. They think the wrist supports actually cause the weakness of your wrist. because you are depending on them more.
I'd say treat it like how you would use crutches. Crutches will help you walk but then there comes a point where your body will know that you don't need them anymore.
Just find a balance. Every athlete knows his or her body. So if you need the support, use it to help you out. Once you feel like you've gotten strong enough to be stable then you can try to go without it.
Overall I would say its a Great support and easy to put on. I give this product Alize's SWEET seal of approval You should be able to use these whether you are doing front handsprings off vault, doing tumbling passes on floor, or doing series on beam.
