Ghosts, Gods & Mediums - Singapore Possession

Spirit Mediums in Singapore are a controversial subject under increasing scrutiny. Are Spirit Mediums (known as Dang-Kis) really possessed by deities, or are they fake, just taking advantage of people? I interviewed Taoist Dang-Kis during Singapore's Hungry Ghost Month in cemeteries, temples and the modern streets of Singapore to hear directly from them - how they were first possessed, and what is like to be possessed by a god. We talked to young tech workers who were in training to become mediums who wanted their identities hidden because of the social stigma of these practices. We also interviewed temple members to get their thoughts on the subject in this little known and rapidly fading world.

This is the pilot of a documentary series I was directing which unfortunately had to be cancelled because of the pandemic, so it never received final mixes/graphics, etc, but I am proud of the work and found the project and people quite fascinating and wanted to share it.
