LIVE: Virginia Beach braces for Hurricane Erin impact

Описание: Hurricane Erin headed northward through the Atlantic on Wednesday, August 20, bringing life-threatening surf to the East Coast, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) warned.

Timelapse satellite imagery shows the sun rising on a “massive and strengthening” Erin on Wednesday morning. At this time, the “large” storm was a Category 2 hurricane located about 545 miles (880 km) west-southwest of Bermuda and was carrying maximum sustained winds of 110 mph (175 km/h).

Erin was not expected to make landfall on the mainland US, but could become a major hurricane again by Wednesday night, the NHC warned.
