Despite record rainfall and flooding, experts warn of a 25 percent water shortage in the coming months due to a significant decline in inflows to the Jhelum River.
The reduced water flow has also slowed the filling of Mangla Dam, one of Pakistan’s largest reservoirs.
On Saturday, inflows in the Jhelum River dropped to 25,200 cusecs, nearly 47 percent below the recorded average and much lower than last year’s 39,700 cusecs on the same day.
