A statewide dawn to dusk strike is underway in Kerala after the murder of a BJP party worker in Kannur. The initial hours showed a total shutdown in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. The roads were deserted as buses and other public vehicles stayed off. Even State transport KSRTC buses were not plying. The shutdown comes a day after BJP worker Ramit was hacked to death allegedly by CPM workers in Pinarayi town of Kannur district. Police said armed men on bikes attacked Ramit with swords, who succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital.
