THIS INDIA -THAILAND HIGHWAY WILL CHANGE ROAD TRANSPORT!!

Описание: India is working on a 1,400-kilometre-long highway to connect all the way to Thailand.

This highway project involves India, Myanmar, and Thailand.

Talks around this project began back in 2002, and it is the first major land route project connecting South Asia with Southeast Asia.

Construction started in 2012, and the highway begins from Moreh in Manipur, India, passing through Myanmar, and ending in Mae Sot, Thailand. (Use maps to show this)

But the big question is — what are the benefits of this highway and when will it be completed?

To begin with, India already has $131 billion worth of trade with Southeast Asian countries, and this highway is expected to boost it further.

It is also estimated that this project could create 20 million jobs, and there are plans to extend this highway to Cambodia and Vietnam as well. (Use maps here too)

However, despite 70% of the work being completed, the project is currently on hold.

The main reason is the ongoing civil war in Myanmar, and efforts are underway to find a solution.
