Yesterday’s Embrace is an instrumental reinterpretation of the original song “Ghribt Watan”, first produced in 2012. The original featured lyrics and music by Mohamed Elfakahany, performed by multiple vocalists.
After migrating to the United States in January 2023, Mohamed Elfakahany embarked on a new creative chapter, revisiting and reshaping much of his earlier musical legacy through a contemporary lens that fuses orchestral classical expression, free jazz elements, and sophisticated Eastern musical textures.
This piece preserves the emotional core of the original composition while expanding its musical language, allowing the melody to speak freely beyond words—transforming a song once carried by lyrics into a purely instrumental journey of longing, reflection, and artistic evolution.
