BBC Prime - Relaunch Concept

I was originally going to post a full day’s continuity of this channel, however I scrapped it in favor of shorter continuities to come soon. Anyways, this is the new BBC Prime channel (or rather, the relaunch of BBC Prime)! I thought that BBC Replay was a fun concept to work on back in April 2022, so I decided to work on another fanmade BBC channel. Heavily based on the original BBC Prime channel that existed from 1995 to 2009, this is supposed to be an international BBC channel that isn’t news-related. I had worked on template remasters from the BBC Chameleon branding back in June 2023, which I also used in the BBC America video, making this project a lot cleaner than BBC Replay visually.

The original BBC Prime channel in Europe shut down in 2009, leaving BBC Entertainment to take it’s place. Although BBC Entertainment is essentially the same thing as the former BBC Prime, the main reason I took up this project is to use the Chameleon branding on an international BBC channel. Basically an excuse to make a worldwide version of BBC One. As said earlier, this is mostly based on the original BBC Prime channel from 1995 to 2009, however I also took inspiration from BBC One in terms of it’s schedule and programming.

The new BBC Prime uses a wide variety of 2021 branding, and there are over 20+ dynamic idents shown on Prime alone. BBC Prime is avaliable to broadcast worldwide (although only Europe is mentioned in this video) except for the Americas, where BBC America is broadcast instead, and except for the United Kingdom (naturally) which already has a wide range of BBC channels. Although, routers can be modified so that BBC Prime can air in the UK. BBC Prime broadcasts in English by default, but there are broadcasts of BBC Prime in many different languages, as showcased in this video.

And now, for the fun part. BBC Learning is an educational block running from 1pm to 2pm on weekdays only. Partially based on the original BBC Learning from the original BBC Prime channel, this block is mostly based on BBC Two schools and CBBC Class TV. Speaking of, CBBC on BBC Prime also makes a return, running from 3:30pm to 5:15pm on weekdays, 7:00am to 12:00pm on Saturday and 7:00am to 10:00am on Sunday. The weekday version is based on CBBC on BBC One, while the weekend version is based on CBBC on BBC Two. We also have CBeebies on BBC Prime, running from 3:00pm to 3:30pm on weekdays, 6:00am to 7:00am on weekends and additionally 10:00am to 12:00pm on Sunday.

I’m glad to have shortened this project, otherwise I’d probably still be working on it and y’all would still be waiting, although I mainly did this for my mental health as I didn’t want to be working on something for months on end. I did just finish a 3+ hour video in November, which already took a bit over a month to do. But anyways, it’s finally out albeit shortened, and I don’t have anything else important to work on, so I might do a continuity video on this soon. Until then, I’ll see you later.
