The current crisis came on in weeks, acting as catalyst for underlying forces set in motion decades ago – all pushing the world towards ever greater instability. The future is now. Being ready tomorrow is too late.

How do friends and allies maintain the ability to work together and fight shoulder to shoulder, when values are challenged and contested, and finances and resources become scarce?

How can the Norwegian Defense prepare to meet future conflicts with appropriate responses, navigating short-term crises while maintaining focus on our long-term goals?

Every conflict begins and ends in interaction between human beings on land – are we equipped to handle everything in between?

We will be surprised next time as well – but are we ready?
