My family traveled to Iceland for our summer trip this year, and we had the best time! It was so beautiful, every day felt like a fever dream... you'll see incredible landscapes, along with my family's antics and debates with my brother over Icelandic candy haha. We feel incredibly blessed and understand that it is a privilege to afford going on a trip like this.
Apologies for some shaky footage 😓 This is my first time vlogging, so I'm still getting used to this whole thing

We speak a mix of 3 languages in this video (English, Taiwanese, and Mandarin) so I tried my best to make it as easy as possible for everyone to understand. Please let me know if you would like to see subtitles available in more languages! 🤗💜
I did a lot of reflection about (idk how to describe this-) knowing when to put down the camera, and just taking everything in with your eyes and letting yourself FEEL in the moment. in this digital age, I feel like it's our first instinct to want to capture everything and save things on our phones for later, but I find that makes it... less enjoyable? when you look back on these moments, you might not remember exactly what it looked like, but you'll remember what you were doing, and most importantly, how you were feeling.
I guess I became hyper-aware of it because I was vlogging 😅 A lot of YouTubers I watch have talked about struggling with this as well... It'll continue being something I try to balance as I make more videos.

We traveled on the Ring Road and stayed for 9 nights. EVERYTHING in Iceland is super expensive, so we didn't go to many restaurants, ate homemade meals, and stayed at Airbnbs for the entire trip to save money.

▶︎[SUMMER TRAVEL TIPS]
Pack LAYERS and rain gear. The weather is notoriously unpredictable, and it will most likely be rainy + windy + chilly 60% of the time, so be prepared.
❗️Important things to pack: waterproof hiking shoes, sleeping eye mask (the sun doesn't set in the summer), European power outlet adapter, sunscreen
If you are an English speaker, getting around Iceland is super easy. Most (if not all) people there speak fantastic English.
Expect everything to be expensive 💸
If you want to save money on food, shop at grocery stores like Hagkaup, Bònus, and Krònan. If you want to save money on lodging, you can stay at Airbnbs (some have shared bathrooms) or hostels.
Tap water is very clean + safe to drink everywhere in Iceland, plus it tastes amazing 💧
Unique souvenirs: Icelandic candy, flavored salts, Icelandic wool clothing items, skincare products, art
Get out of the touristy areas and try to find the hidden gems, you can even ask the locals. You never know what you might find 😉
