This video offers an insight into life at Investancia's Pongamia tree propagation and research center, situated along the Río Paraguay near Carmelo Peralta in Alto Paraguay, Paraguay. With a production capacity of over 1 million trees a year, this represents the world's largest dedicated elite Pongamia tree production site.

The Pongamia trees are used to reforest degraded land areas which were deforested more than 10 years ago. The reforestation programs are implemented on cattle land in silvopastures mode; combining trees and grazing livestock while creating additional green reserves of native vegetation. Apart from sequestering large amounts of carbon dioxide, Pongamia also contributes with a non-food land crop (Pongamia pods). Its non-edible beans are harvested and crushed to extract Pongamia crude oil - a low ILUC biofeedstock with a very low CI (carbon intensity), and bioprotein from the seedcake leftovers of the pressing.

Pongamia crude oil is sold to HVO and Sustainable Aviation Fuel refiners worldwide, who are looking to source low CI feedstocks to achieve the highest GHG emission reduction possible in the HVO fuels.
