ARTEFFECT Overview

Описание: ARTEFFECT invites educators and students to creatively interpret the inspiring stories of Unsung Heroes through the visual arts. Unsung Heroes are role models who demonstrated extraordinary character traits such as courage, compassion, perseverance, and responsibility and who took heroic actions that made a positive and profound impact on the lives of others. While the contributions of these diverse individuals—spanning the centuries and all fields of endeavor—have gone largely unrecognized by society, their extraordinary actions changed the course of history.

ARTEFFECT offerings include international visual arts competitions for young artists, professional development for educators, and exhibitions of award-winning projects by middle and high school students.

Lowell Milken founded the Lowell Milken Center for Unsung Heroes in 2007 to engage students and educators in educational opportunities that uncover diverse and inspiring stories that would otherwise be lost to history, through project-based and visual arts-based learning activities. Lowell Milken’s vision, that “one person can make a positive and profound difference in the lives of others” guides the teaching and learning around the ARTEFFECT offerings.
