2023 XC - Clovis Invitational 6 (Boys, Championship)

Описание: This is the Rob Brenner Boys Championship race (Race 6) from the 2023 Clovis Cross Country Invitational, hosted by Clovis High and sponsored by ASICS at the famous 5K Woodward Park course in Fresno, CA. This race featured the top ranked California individual athletes in Divisions 1-4 and many of the top teams that will be vying for CIF state championships on this same course over Thanksgiving weekend. Because CIF competition is based on school size, the Championship races at Clovis are a unique opportunity for top athletes across divisions to compete head to head.

In this race, several top athletes began spreading the pack by the mile, but there were 46 athletes sub 4:50 at this point. Beckman was the top team at 82 points, over Great Oak at 109. In the second mile, Ventura's Anthony Fast Horse uses Killer Hill just after the halfway point to begin creating some separation. Emmanuel Perez of Cathedral also makes a move and takes over 2nd. By the 2.1 mile mark, Fast Horse had a 4 second lead over Perez. Joshua Bell of Templeton and Broen Holman of Sonora moved up several spots to take 3rd and 4th, respectively. Great Oak (101 pts) and Beckman (159) traded spots in the team competition, and Dana Hills moved up significantly into 3rd place (164 pts). In the third mile, Fast Horse continues separating and looks relaxed and in control all the way to the finish. Perez holds second. Dana Hills' Evan Noonan continues to work through the pack and catches Holman and Bell on the road with about 200M to go - and with a late charge takes third. Dana Hills has a great third mile and moves up 2 spots in the team competition by the finish to eke out the win.
