Описание: In this episode of Veteran Authors we hear from Al Conetto and his experiences in Vietnam. He is reading from his book that details the Operation Hump that is one of the first major battles in Vietnam and the inspiration for the Big & Rich song Eighth Of November.


Born and raised in San Jose, CA, Conetto earned his undergraduate degree in Business-Industrial Management and a graduate degree in U.S. History, both from San Jose State University.

As the first military officer in his extended family, Conetto enlisted in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War where he served six years in infantry, as well as over five years on active duty during his 17-month deployment as a platoon leader, company commander and held two staff positions, with his final position as Army Captain.


After 30 years in a professional sales career, Conetto and his wife live in Walla Walla, Washington where he wrote his first book, ‘The Hump:The 1st Battalion, 503rd Airborne Infantry, in the First Major Battle of the Vietnam War.” He is writing his second book about a former Army Colonel.

were not, serving as a voice in both nonfiction and fiction short stories as well as detailed historical
accounts delivered to settings reminiscent of 1930’s ‘Fireside’ chats, Radio Age, and the TV shows,
CHEERS, where everyone gathers for the love of learning and relationship.
