Bikini Line
1. A bikini line wax is removing the hair that would show outside of a bikini bottom. Personally, I use my hand as a good rule of thumb for how far down the bikini line (the inner thigh) I will wax. You also want to make sure you wax the hair that is on the crease of the bikini line because if you miss that area, the hair will poke out when they put a bikini bottom on.

2. The bikini line wax also includes a small strip across the top of the bikini area. Again, this is to ensure no hair is sticking out when wearing a bikini bottom.

3. Lastly, most wax companies won’t do this but I will also wax the small area on the butt cheek (assuming the client has hair). I’ve realized that if you don’t wax that area, the minute the customer opens their legs even a little bit, hair will stick out.

Bikini Full
1. A bikini full wax is when you remove as little or as much hair as you want off the front of the bikini area, however you do not wax the butt strip. This means, you can remove all the hair and go completely bare, or opt to leave a triangle or a strip on the top of the bikini area.

2. I’ve also had some clients who want to remove everything on their labia, however keep all the hair up top. Or I’ve had clients who want to remove the hair on the outside of the labia, but keep the hair towards the middle.

3. Some companies call a bikini full a French Wax.

Brazilian Wax
1. A brazilian wax is when you wax everything from the front of the bikini area, as well as the butt strip in the back. Again, you can opt to leave a triangle or landing strip if you don’t want to remove all the hair from the front.

2. A butt strip wax is getting all the hair waxed between the cheeks.

3. A brazilian wax can sometimes be called a Hollywood Wax.

As an Esthetician, make sure you ALWAYS ask your client if they want to leave any hair for the bikini full and brazilian wax service. Once you lay a wax strip, it’s near impossible to remove without removing hair. Your only possible option would be to use a cleansing oil and try to remove the wax.

What is the most popular bikini wax between these three options?

In my experience of being a waxer for over 12 years, the brazilian wax is definitely the most popular type of bikini wax. I’ve also noticed that from the brazilian wax, most people will remove all the hair and not leave a strip or a triangle. However, this is always based on personal preference and there is no wrong way to get waxed. It’s your body so make sure you do whatever makes you happy.
