In this video, we explore the fascinating origins of Bulwark, a small but resilient frontier town that sprang to life in the early 1900s, driven by ambition, determination, and the dreams of its settlers. Starting as a modest collection of homesteads in the 1910s, Bulwark’s fate took a dramatic turn when the Canadian Northern Railway (CNR) laid tracks through the area in 1913, sparking a wave of growth and opportunity.

From the first businesses, like George Drinnan's hardware store, to the establishment of the Bulwark post office in 1914, this chapter highlights how the town grew into a thriving community, with settlers building new homes, businesses, and connections with the outside world.

However, while Bulwark's early years were filled with hope and prosperity, the town's story is ultimately one of rise and fall. Despite its promising beginnings, economic hardships, competition between railroads, and the exodus of residents in search of new opportunities would eventually lead to Bulwark’s decline. The very railway that helped it flourish would later contribute to its demise, with the Canadian Pacific Railway pulling out by 1962 and the town slowly fading into history.
