This spoken word poem focuses on my struggles with depression and anxiety, and the complex relationship I've had with the ideas of faith while trying to improve my mental health.

The Only God I Know Is The Thing That Breaks Me:
in the cathedral of my body, i kneel,
because worship is an act of looking up.
and here, beneath vaulted rib
and beating altar
i carve a space for myself,
for a faith that touches only the things that cut.
and still, i hold out my hands
and ask for forgiveness.
still they return to me
wet with blood.
