Must have been pretty annoying for the monster!
This was the final project for my Bachelor degree, that I worked on together with Maite Leukering (www.artstation.com/mleukering).
She modelled and textured a destruction-ready, late 18th century battleship and I was responsible for the simulations, rendering, compositing and sound design.
This was my first big dive - pun intended - into Houdini and especially Flip Fluids. We had only 2 month for this so it was a pretty crazy ride. But it was one hell of a learning experience as well!
The destruction of the ship was simulated with Thinking Particles in 3ds Max (which I am way more familiar with).
I will definitely do some more shots with this ship... but without time constraints! :)
