Описание: It is a province located in the Southeastern Anatolia Region of the Republic of Turkey. Batman, which was affiliated to the province of Siirt until 1990, became the 72nd province of Turkey by taking Beşiri, Kozluk and Sason districts from Siirt, Hasankeyf and Gercüş districts from Mardin and connecting to the Center with the law no 3647 dated 16 May 1990.

While Batman was a village of Beşiri, on March 2, 1936, it became a township (subdistrict) to which 25 villages were connected. The railroad passing through the city center also contributed significantly to the development of Iluh, which started to undergo a major economic change with the start of oil extraction in Mount Raman. The city received a great deal of immigration. In 1955, a municipal organization was established in rapidly developing Iluh. In 1957, the "Batman district" was established as a subordinate of Siirt province, to which 22 villages, including the center of Iluh, are connected. The district got its name from the Batman stream, which is 5 km away from the center.

As in many of the eastern cities, the economy in Batman is generally based on agriculture and animal husbandry. According to the data of Batman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BATSO), 9 thousand people work in textile workshops in the city, where hundreds of new textile enterprises have been opened with the expansion experienced in the Organized Industrial Zone in recent years. Again, according to BATSO data, there are 55 enterprises in the Organized Industrial Zone in the city.

Batman Refinery is located in Batman, Turkey's first oil-producing city, and more than 400 people work here.
