Actually, the price of a ⅜" set screw tool holder ends up being "only" $35 including shipping (if you only get one). The tool holder itself is about $22. I calculated that I can make my own for about $5 each, out of 12L14 steel, if I make 25 of them (I will need more). There is little sense however in replicating the TTS, you can actually get many more holders out of the same steel bar by making the shorter version (in the video), thus bringing the individual cost down. The groove on the tool holder is just there for the Automatic Tool Changer, so unless you plan on buying a Tormach mill with an ATC, it doesn't make any sense copying them at all (and you shouldn't except as a exercise in machining).
