Edward B. Gordon, born in 1966 in Hanover, works as an artist in Berlin and London and has achieved international recognition through his blog "A Painting One Day", where he displays his works. Edward paints what he sees, what is around him. His paintings are like the pages of a diary, impressions of life. Often dictated by the spirit of the times, but painted by someone who seems to live in another world. The artist works in a realistic style, with a modern identity.
With his models he recreates images of classic women, Edward makes them reborn before the viewer. He has a special preference for the feminine, to which Edward pays homage in his paintings, trying to make the viewer reflect.
Another source of his inspiration is the city, which leads him to produce works considered observations in the city, scenes from the life of a large cosmopolitan city: Berlin. Time and again he walks through the city, always in search of inspiration to paint, and he will do it, again with the help of light, different in each place, be it on the island of museums, or the hairdresser's in Kreuzberg, in a restaurant, in a park or at the historic industrial site in the far south eastern part of the metropolis.
Edward never tires of the urban context, but alternates painting from life with working in the studio with models.
"Später Vier Jahre", which means "four years later" - the title of this exhibition refers to the period of time that has passed since Edward held a gallery exhibition on Auguststrasse in Berlin Mitte. The paintings that were shown then are in the collection of the whole world.
The strength of Edward's paintings has been recognized in recent years by renowned publications such as Zeit Magazin and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. The German Theater Berlin has been using images of Edward's paintings in all its print material since 2012. In the fall of 2012 the first book on the work of Edward Gordon B was published by Kein und Aber publishing house, Zurich.
