A 35-year-old male Asian elephant named Putra Mass has completed a 2,700 kilometre journey from Perth to South Australia's Monarto Safari Park. The 4.7 tonne bull elephant travelled for 30 hours across the Nullarbor in a specially designed crate to join a herd of four female Asian elephants. Putra Mass becomes the fifth and final elephant at the safari park, where he will reunite with Permai from Perth Zoo and meet three other females who recently arrived from Auckland Zoo and Taronga Zoo.
