Volumetric titration is an analytical chemistry technique used to determine the unknown concentration of a solution by reacting it with another solution of known concentration, called the standard solution. The process involves the gradual addition of the standard solution from a burette to the solution of unknown concentration until the chemical reaction between them is complete.
In this experiment, an indicator is usually added to the solution to show the end point of the reaction through a visible color change. By measuring the volume of the standard solution required to reach the end point, the concentration of the unknown solution can be calculated.
Volumetric titration is commonly used in laboratories to analyze acids and bases, determine chemical concentrations, and perform quantitative chemical analysis. It is an important practical topic for students studying chemistry at the NEB board level.
