Commemorative-St. King David
Though today (12/29) is the Feast day for St. Thomas Beckett, Bishop & Martyr 🩸we also commemorate King David, anointed king and prophet (Jerusalem).
King David, shepherd of Bethlehem, anointed king of Israel, prophet, psalmist, and ancestor of Christ.
Chosen not for stature but for the heart, David prefigures the true King who would come from his line. This feast day is a commemorative day in the Roman Martyrology.
Though crowned in glory, David knew repentance. When he fell, he humbled himself before God, crying out for mercy—teaching the world that holiness is not sinlessness, but conversion of heart.
Inspired by the Holy Spirit, David gave voice to Israel’s prayer in the Psalms—songs of praise, sorrow, trust, and hope that the Church still prays daily. David recognizing his role as the anointed king of Israel, son of Jesse, who brought the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem and from whose line Christ was born.
From David’s throne would rise Jesus Christ, Son of David and eternal King, whose kingdom has no end.

that we may seek the Lord with undivided hearts
and praise Him in every season of life. 🙏🏻 👑
