Описание: This recording sourced the original vinyl 12" single release from my library, so there are some clicks and pops, but I feel a vibrancy and fullness to the bottom end that seems to lose something in the transition to and from digital. Cyndi Lauper was a breath of frosty fresh air when she arrived with the anthemic "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" just before Christmas of 1983. Those who know Cyndi also knew that she was part of a band called Blue Angel that released an album back in 1980. The label really tried to promote it, releasing four picture sleeve singles that sank into the vast oblivion of 80's pop. So, I was surprised to see her win Best New Artist in 1985 since she had already made her debut in Blue Angel, but I guess that technicality might be best forgotten. Talk about appeal! She had it down, she took a chick tune written by a guy and made it ok for us guys when she put professional wrestling manager "Captain" Lou Albano in the role of Lauper's father in the wacky video. Her oddball charm is what tied it all together, that Billy Idol type sneering with those cute Betty Boop chirps punctuating a spectacularly produced music track. The video for this song was shot for $35,000 at Manhattan's Lower East Side during the summer of 1983 and released near the end of that year. Lorne Michaels lent Cyndi his nascent studio where computer generated imaging was used one of the first times on a music video production. Apparently, there are over 40 different releases of that song including promotional versions.
