আওয়ামী লীগ সাধারণ সম্পাদক ওবায়দুল কাদের বলেন, 'বিএনপি এখন ফাঁদে পড়ে গেছে। গেছে মুচলেকা দিয়ে, রাজনীতি করবে না, এই কথা বলে চলে গিয়েছে বিদেশে। এতদিন জেনেছি চিকিৎসার জন্য বিদেশে গিয়েছিলেন, আর এখন তিনি হঠাৎ করেই রাজনীতি করার জন্য আগ্রহী হয়ে উঠেছেন।

ওবায়দুল কাদের বলেন, 'বিএনপিও চায়না তারেক জিয়া দেশে আসুক। বিএনপি একবার বলে আওয়ামী লীগ ২৫ সিট পাবে, আবার বলে ৫০ সিট পাবে। আবার বলে ৩০ সিট পাবে। এক সময় খালেদা জিয়াও বলেছিলেন, ১০০ বছরেও আওয়ামী লীগ ক্ষমতায় আসতে পারবে না। আরা জকে সেই আওয়ামী লীগ দীর্ঘ সময় ধরে ক্ষমতায় আছে।
