In this tutorial, I'll show you how to cast a video from the desktop Chrome Browser without having to cast the entire tab. To do this, we will be using the PlayTo Chrome extension along with the official Google Cast extension.

This is similar to the way videos are cast from the Android Chrome beta browser, except instead of seeing a cast icon as an overlay on the video, you are prompted with a dialog box asking if you want to cast an embedded video. Most websites host videos that are compatible with this extension, so go ahead and try some of your favorites from Vimeo and LiveLeak.

Since this extension does not require you to cast the entire tab you are free to continue browsing without the normal lag.
