Minimally and moderately processed foods usually still contain fiber, protein, and recognizable ingredients, while ultra-processed foods are engineered to be easy to overeat by stripping out fiber and adding sugar, refined oils, and salt. A simple rule is this: if the ingredient list is understandable, includes fiber or protein, and still feels like food, it likely fits. Health isn’t about avoiding every processed food—it’s about patterns, pairing foods wisely, and enjoying treats like pizza on purpose instead of by accident.
