"Most of us know Bing Crosby led the way in popular entertainment during the 20th century, in records, radio, film, television, sports, and recording technology. But who was the real person behind all that? Dave Reynolds, Board President for Bing Crosby Advocates, will tell us how Bing's behind- the-scene values - loyalty, generosity, humility, industriousness, playfulness and honesty - took root right here in Spokane."
"Although Bing Crosby’s upbringing seemed ordinary, his extraordinarily talented career impacted show business forever. Learn about Bing’s early days in Spokane and at Gonzaga University, which encouraged his love for music and entertaining people, and made him the most recorded voice in history. Presented by Lauren R. Harris, local author of the new biography Bing, Himself: The Story of Bing Crosby, The World’s First Multimedia Star. A former teacher and journalist, Lauren is the author of two other nonfiction picture books for children highlighting the Japanese American veterans of WWII. She loves to research and hopes to inspire readers with stories of humor and hope from history."
The meeting will be September 18 at Corbin Senior Center, 827 W. Cleveland Ave. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and programs begin at 6:15p.m. The cost is $20 per person, and reservation MUST be made by 4:00 p.m. on Sunday
