QUESTION: What do you do about invasives?

GABE: “Invasives tend to show up as a symptom of something we did wrong. If you’re seeing invasive species show up, that just means something needs to be corrected.

“I don’t look at any plant as being bad or good ‘cause once we do that we’re trying to skew it to how we want. I look at plants as trying to tell me something. And if I see a bunch of a certain species coming on, then I know, ‘Ok, what does this mean?’

“For example, dandelions. If you see a lot of dandelions, you have a lack of calcium in the soil. So you could either add calcium or let the dandelions run their life cycle, and in a few years, they’ll take care of that problem for you.”
