Bicholim Police have arrested a 20-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh in connection with a case involving the alleged sexual assault of a minor girl that resulted in her pregnancy.

According to police, the case came to light after a complaint was lodged by the family of a 15-year-old girl from Bicholim. Investigations revealed that the accused and the victim were from the same locality.

The accused allegedly fled Goa after the incident and was later traced to Siddharthnagar district in Uttar Pradesh through technical surveillance. He was apprehended with the assistance of local police and brought to Goa on a transit warrant.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Goa Children’s Act, and the POCSO Act. Further investigation is underway.
