Our SHD Showcase will inspire, inform and connect people in South Australia, celebrating local sustainable house design and construction. In this video, Dr Martin Freney talks us through the principles of Earthships and shares a few case studies from South Australia.

//About the Speaker
Martin Freney is a building designer and building scientist with a PhD on the life cycle eco-impacts and thermal performance of housing. He runs Earthship Eco Homes, a company dedicated to the design of sustainable homes, and to education via tours, talks and workshop events where volunteers can learn the ancient art of shelter making with the indigenous materials of the 21st century. Marty is the creator of Australia's first council approved Earthship - Earthship Ironbank, a BnB where people can experience Earthship technology firsthand. He lives in his owner-built strawbale house and enjoys pooping in his composting toilet and dreaming up better ways to live lightly.
