Azim Premji | The Billionaire Who Gave Away Most of His Wealth

Описание: Azim Premji | The Billionaire Who Gave Away Most of His Wealth

What happens when a 21-year-old engineering student is suddenly called home to take over a cooking oil company?

In 1966, Azim Premji returned to India after the death of his father. He left Stanford University before completing his degree and inherited a business he barely knew. The company was Western India Vegetable Products—an oil manufacturer that would eventually become Wipro, one of India's most recognized technology companies.

But Premji's story is about more than building a business. It is about making difficult decisions, recognizing opportunities, questioning conventional wisdom, and using wealth to support education.

In this documentary, we explore the remarkable journey of Azim Premji—from a young heir who never wanted to run a vegetable oil company to one of India's most influential business leaders and philanthropists.

From the factory floors of Amalner to the global technology industry, this is the story of a business leader who repeatedly chose to learn a new trade—and who believed that education could create lasting change.

The documentary also explores the more complex side of the story: the distinction between giving away economic benefits and retaining voting control, Wipro's changing position in the IT industry, and the controversy surrounding moonlighting and employee dismissals.

💬 Question for you: What is Azim Premji's greatest achievement—building Wipro into a global technology company or dedicating his wealth to education?
